Donnie - Cloud 9 (Quentin Harris Shelter Mix) (2003) [Buy]
Two classic remixes of a pretty standard Heavies track. The original single also includes a nice Ummah (aka Jaydee) & Q-Tip remix but I will stick with the MAW versions since they are the best.
Quality soulful house music from legendary NY producer Johnny Dangerous. Definitely prefer 'Open Season' personally although 'Besides Myself' is still ok I guess in comparison to a lot of other 'soulful house' stuff out there.
Heres a couple of lesser known Kenny 'Dope' Gonzales productions on a mid 90's hip-hop/reggae vibe including 'Gunshot' featuring Shaggy of all people! We all know what musical direction he has unfortunately followed since then but the beat on Gunshot is still a classic.
Three tracks here from Markus Enochson's overlooked 'Night Games' LP that came out on Sonar Kollektiv last year. Overall their are a couple of duffers on the LP but the six/seven stand out cuts more than make up for the rest. Very much a soulful 80's electronic house vibe going on throughout. Admittedly kinda 'poppy' sounding in some cases but that isn't always such a bad thing.
This sounded particularly good again today in the sunshine. A quality Bossa-esque MAW remix of Karen Ramirez's debut 1997 single. Whatever happened to her after 'Looking For Love'?
