One more post for today, had to quickly put these two track's up from New Flesh's 2002 'Understanding' LP which came out on Big Dada records. I forgot how good the whole LP sounds in general and at how fresh it still sounds almost six years on.
Many apologies for all the old tracks, I will post some newer ones up soon when I get around to it but I've just been going through a lot of older stuff recently. It's always a nice surprise to come across something you'd completely forgotten about. Heres another one from 2001 by Shade Of Soul who again I don't know anything about but I know the singer of this track, Mani Hoffman, also sang the pretty dire 'Starlight' by Supermen Lovers in the same year....this makes up for it though.
I don't know much about this except that it came out in 2001 on a new label at the time called 'Omoa Music' which I haven't heard from since. I also believe it was co-produced by Recloose. If anyone knows anymore info on it or what ever happened to Marc Alphonse or Omoa Music, I'd be quite interested to know. The same sampler this is on also has another great track which was quite big at the time I remember...Ayro's brilliant 'Let This Love'.
Sorry about the lack of posts recently. I've come back from holiday and been busy trying to sort stuff out now that I've finished being a student. Not looking forward to entering the real world at all. Anyways, heres a classic track from an artist that I didn't fully appreciate at first in my naive youth but who's work I quickly grew to really love. I highly recommend 'The World Of Arthur Russell' comp that came out on Soul Jazz records a few years back for anyone new to his work and anyone interested in good music in general for that matter. I also recently heard about this which I'm looking forward to. Buy more Arthur Russell, you won't regret it...
This sounded particularly good again today in the sunshine. A quality Bossa-esque MAW remix of Karen Ramirez's debut 1997 single. Whatever happened to her after 'Looking For Love'?

Couple of new leaked tracks from what should hopefully be three great forthcoming albums (links swiped from elsewhere)
The Galaxy 2 Galaxy - Journey Of The Dragons track has reminded me of a recent track from the superb Jazzanova compiled 'Computer Incarnations For World Peace' on Sonar Kollektiv. It's another track from Jean-Luc Ponty where you can hear it's 'proto-techno' sound and you can also definitely hear the influence it has had on 'Journey Of the Dragons' in particular. The whole compilation is one of the best releases of 2007 - the 'Special Touch-Garden Of Life' track being another personal favourite from it.
Here's two more of my all time favourite tracks that I've recently had on constant repeat again. Both are 'techno' classics from the legendary 1993 'Galaxy 2 Galaxy' EP on the Underground Resistance label. In my personal opinion these are the two standout cuts but many would agree that the EP as a whole is definitely one of electronic music's most important and groundbreaking releases.
Two lesser known Lupe tracks you may or may not have heard before. The former coming from a wicked Jaguar Skills mixtape from last year called 'Who Is He??!!'. The latter a remix of a song you will no doubt recognize straight away (the title alone gives it away) also coming from a mixtape, still sounding good with some pretty poignant lyrics:

Heard this again today for the first time in ages and thought it still sounded pretty good. From the 1999 EP of the same name. Also more easily available on the Atlantic Jaxx Vol 2 compilation.
Here's something a bit different - a track that definitely has roots in the whole LCD Soundsystem style dance-punk thing but with a slightly bigger & dancier sounding production. Not to everyones tastes but I like this a lot.
Keeping with the random nature of posts & music genres on this blog here is a track I particularly like from the 'Tones Of Town' LP that came out at the beginning of the year. A really good album from a band that deserve a lot more exposure than they seem to get.
A nice little track from Liverpool singer Candie Payne who has a new album out the moment - this is one of the better tracks however. A useless fact but she's also the kid sister of the Zutons drummer.
Happy Birthday Stevie. 57 today. The term legend gets used a lot but he is only one of a few who without a question of a doubt actually deserves the title. Heres a hard to find wicked little edit. Turn this one up:
Since I purchased my tickets the other day for one for his London O2 concerts I've found myself listening to his back catalogue. I'm particularly feeling this track again, an absolute classic:
Continuing the African-themed remixes, heres another one of my personal favourites from 2000 by the French producer Llorca. Excellent stuff.
Heres a really nice Osunlade remix of a Salif Keita track from 2004. Its from the 'Remixes from Moffou' LP and is definately one of the stand out cuts.
Whilst I'm on the subject of my all time favourite tracks, here's another one for you. An original b-boy electro classic. I personally prefer this remix to the original from the same LP.
Heres a Balearic classic which is currently having a bit of a revival. This tune would easily make my top 100 of all time.
Heres a superb jazz cover of Derrick Mays seminal 'Strings of Life'. A track I don't think that I will ever get sick of, no matter how many times it has been played/sampled/covered etc. There have been some dodgy versions, this one is quality though. Enjoy:
